Of course it will. But the most common thing that will happen is the bolts holding someones oil pan will work loose and cause a leak. This will cause the gasket to get oil soaked. To try to fix the leak they will drop the oil pan, wipe the gasket dry and then put silicone on it thinking it will help fix the leak. The silicone will not stick to the gasket properly because of the oil in it and a lot of it will get squeezed out into the oil pan even if you don't use much.
